SAE 8620 belongs to the Cr-Ni-Mo series steel. The addition of alloying elements effectively inhibits the transformation of supercooled austenite to ferrite and pearlite, promotes bainite transformation, and has excellent hardenability
SAE 8620 has good carburizing performance, formability and weldability, and is the most widely used carburizing alloy. Due to the high nickel content, this grade has a high-strength shell and core toughness. Chromium and molybdenum support carburizing and provide good surface hardness and wear resistance
SAE8620 steel is a surface hardening steel widely used for carburizing and carbonitriding. The surface hardness in the quenched state is generally 37~43HRC, the hardenability is quite high, it has good forgeability and weldability, and the cutting performance is also quite good.
