SAE8620 1.6523 Alloy steel for special alloy machining
8620 bar is a low alloy steel whose main components are iron (Fe), carbon (C), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) and molybdenum (Mo). Typical composition ranges are approximately 0.18-0.23% carbon, 0.70-0.90% manganese, 0.40-0.70% chromium, 0.40-0.70% nickel, and 0.15-0.25% molybdenum. These alloying elements help improve specific properties of the material, including its hardenability and case hardening characteristics
SAE 8620 bar has good forgeability and can be formed through processes such as heat treatment and mechanical processing. It can be easily forged, rolled, stretched and stamped into a variety of shapes and sizes.
SAE 8620 rod is ideal for applications requiring high surface hardness and wear resistance.
Good toughness and impact resistance
It has good machinability and is easy to perform machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling and grinding.
SAE 8620 rod has good weldability and can be welded using common welding techniques.

heat treatment
1) Preheat at 500-600℃ for 2-4 hours;
2) Insulation at 850-880℃ for 2 hours;
3) Oil cooling reaches 50-100℃;
4) After quenching, the hardness can reach 50-52HRC, and then tempered at 200℃,
The hardness can reach above 48HRC;
5.Smelting process
1) Electric furnace: electric furnace+LF+VD (optional);
2) ESR: electric furnace + LF + VD + electroslag remelting (optional);
