The "L" in the 304L stainless steel plate stands for Low Carbon. It reduces the carbon content on the basis of 304 stainless steel, the general carbon content does not exceed 0.03%, while the carbon content of ordinary 304 stainless steel is below 0.08%. Due to the low carbon content, 304L can effectively reduce or avoid the occurrence of intergranular corrosion when welding or heating in the temperature range of 450℃ ~ 900℃.
Corrosion resistance
It has good corrosion resistance and can resist oxidation, corrosion and rust in most environments. It has good tolerance to various media such as acid, alkali, salt, etc., and is widely used in chemical, food processing, medical and other fields.
Especially in environments containing chloride ions, it shows better corrosion resistance than ordinary carbon steel and low alloy steel.
Welding performance
The low carbon content gives it excellent welding performance. During the welding process, intergranular corrosion and thermal cracking are not easy to occur, and the strength and corrosion resistance of the welded joint are comparable to those of the parent material. This makes 304L stainless steel plate very popular in the manufacture of various welded structural parts.
Mechanical properties
It has certain strength and hardness, and also has good toughness and ductility. Its yield strength is about 205MPa, tensile strength is about 520MPa, and elongation is greater than 40%. These properties enable 304L stainless steel plate to withstand certain loads and deformations, and is suitable for the manufacture of various mechanical parts and structural parts.
Its mechanical properties can be further improved after proper heat treatment and processing.
Processing performance

Heat resistance
In high temperature environment, 304L stainless steel plate can still maintain good strength and corrosion resistance. Its maximum operating temperature can reach about 870℃, which is suitable for some high temperature working environments.
